Software Activation
Engrasp software activation technology is designed to deter casual, unauthorized copying of software. Engrasp is committed to eliminating unauthorized use of its software in a manner designed to have a minimal effect on licensed users. Activation maintains customer privacy and does not change the terms of the existing Product License Agreement.
Engrasp welcomes your feedback and questions on the activation process. Please share your thoughts with us; we want to hear from you.
How does activation work?
Q: Is activation mandatory?
A: Yes. You must activate your Engrasp software prior to initial use.
Q: What is activation?
A: Activation is a series of simple and quick steps users of Engrasp software take after installation in order to begin using the application. A simple, anonymous process, activation helps prevent casual copying.
Q: What happens during product activation?
A: When a customer
installs an Engrasp software product for the first time, the program
assigns an activation number to his or her specific computer. When
the product
is activated
on a
computer, this activation number and the product serial number are
provided to Engrasp so Engrasp can ensure that each genuine copy of
its software is not activated more than the permitted number of times.
Q: What usage of the product does activation allow?
A: Activation allows for everything you are
allowed to do under the Engrasp Product License Agreement. The process
allows for most hardware configuration changes without requiring
reactivation.
Q: Can I activate my Engrasp software on more than one computer?
A: The Engrasp software activation process
supports installation on two machines. Engrasp's Product License
Agreement allows a user to install the product on a primary and
a secondary computer as long as the product is not being used concurrently
on the two machines. While the activation process supports installing
and activating the software on two machines,
the usage of the product on the secondary computer is restricted
to
the main
user
who licensed the software. Allowing others to use Engrasp software
on a secondary computer violates the Product License Agreement.
Q: Do I have to reactivate if I change my computer hardware, such as my network card or hard drive?
A: The Engrasp activation process uses a hardware "fingerprint" to tie your computer to a particular product serial number. Changes to your hardware configuration may require reactivation.
Q: Will I be asked to reactivate each time I uninstall and reinstall the product on the same computer?
A: In most cases, you will be prompted to activate again if you reinstall the software on that same computer. On the other hand, if you save your original activation license file and transfer it to the new installation directory, you will not be prompted to activate as long as the installation is on the same machine. Contact Engrasp Customer Support for details.
Q: What happens if I get a new computer and want to install my Engrasp software on the new computer?
A: After you install your
Engrasp software on your new computer, you will be asked to reactivate
your copy of the product. At this time, you must uninstall the software
from your older computer to comply with the license agreement. Reactivation
is as easy, anonymous, and quick as the initial activation. If you
require additional activations, contact Engrasp Customer Support for assistance.

Q: How will this affect Engrasp customers with workgroup licenses? Will they have to activate each copy they install?
A: Product activation applies only to individual retail versions of Engrasp software. Volume licensing customers will need to make certain they order licensing program-specific CD sets. Customers should contact Engrasp Customer Support if they have questions about this.

How do activation and registration differ?
Q: Is activation related to product registration? Does activation replace registration?
A: No. Activation is completely separate from product registration. Activation is an anonymous process that ties Engrasp products to specific computers. Product registration is a customer support service that allows our customers to establish Engrasp Customer Accounts to track their software purchases and maintain their software on the Engrasp web site.
Q: What information is needed for activation?
A: The only information users need is their software serial number, which is supplied with the product. The serial number is typically found in the email sent to you confirming your purchase. Product serial numbers are available online at the Engrasp Customer Account page.
Q: How will this information be used?
A: The unique serial number assigned to each Engrasp software product is combined with a randomly generated number assigned to the user's computer. When the product is activated on a computer, this activation number and the product serial number are provided to Engrasp so Engrasp can ensure that each genuine copy of its software is not activated more than the permitted number of times. Engrasp's activation system does not collect, transmit, or use any personal information, including the customer's hardware configuration.

What happens after I activate Engrasp software?
Q: How do you expect activation to affect Engrasp customers?
A: Engrasp
recognizes that software license activation systems can create
a few more steps for the user and has worked hard to minimize
customer inconvenience. The Engrasp activation process supports
installation on a primary and secondary computer as well
as most system upgrades (for example, operating system, motherboard,
memory, hard drive, or processor). In most cases, customers
can change computing environments without needing to contact
Engrasp Customer Support or needing to reactivate any installed
Engrasp software.
Q: What happens if the product is discontinued?
A: Engrasp is fully committed to honoring the terms of its Product License Agreements. In the event that a product is discontinued, Engrasp will enable automatic approval of all activation requests for that product or provide a means to remove activation outright. In either case, the customer will not experience any change in software capabilities.
Q: What happens if Engrasp releases a newer version of my software?
Will I be able to activate the older version?
A: Yes. Even after the older version of the product stops shipping, you will be able to activate it.
Q: Will I be able to use the software in perpetuity? What happens if Engrasp shuts down?
A: Engrasp's Product License Agreements typically grant the user of an Engrasp product the right to use it in perpetuity. Engrasp plans to honor these agreements. In the unlikely event of the company's shutting down, we will enable automatic approval of all activation requests or provide other technical means allowing users to continue using our products. back to top How is Engrasp educating customers about activation?
Q: How is Customer Care prepared to support users during the activation process?
A: The Engrasp Customer Support team is fully prepared to address all customer concerns during the activation process. We believe that in most cases, customers will have a seamless experience and will not need to contact Engrasp Customer Support. In unusual circumstances or with issues not anticipated in the Product Licensing Agreement, Customer Support can override the activation process. Engrasp also provides for unforeseen circumstances (such as communication outages) to ensure that Customer Support can respond to customer calls or extend the activation period until full communications are restored.
Q: How is Engrasp informing its customers about product activation?
A: Engrasp is proactively communicating product activation to existing and potential customers in several ways:
- On the outside of the product box so that potential buyers are aware before they purchase the product
- On the ETBX product pages on the Engrasp Web site
- Within the product itself
Q: Is Engrasp worried that users might switch to competitive products, which do not require activation?
A: Engrasp does not believe that the activation process will negatively affect its customers' experience with its products. Customers know the importance of safeguarding intellectual property since they, too, often face similar challenges. Engrasp hopes that its customers understand the need to eliminate unauthorized use of the company's intellectual property.
